"It is not lost on us that victory on the battlefield begins in our production facilities,” Reim said during the announcement at a VFW post near where the plant will be built. “Today marks the beginning of the return of TNT production to American soil, a capability we have not had since 1986.”
The new TNT plant in Kentucky is part of the Army's strategy to ramp up munitions production to ensure the U.S. military has “timely access to essential resources,” said Maj. Gen. John T. Reim.
Outgoing Mayor Eric Adams and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards agreed to kick in $4 million dollars in capitql funds combined, while the borough state lawmakers said they will request another $2 million.
The city will build a Holocaust memorial garden at Queens Borough Hall to honor the 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis before and during World War II.
"It is never enough to say never again --- we have to live it with our actions too," Adams said in a statement." By preserving the stories of both victims and survivors, by creating a permanent space for remembrance and reflection, by promoting understanding and solidarity across generations, this memorial will live out the meaning of "never again."
May their memories be a blessing and may they rest in heavenly peace. Amen.
